Reading


This year, we will be using the Daily 5/Cafe approach to reading.  Several teachers in Conestoga are using this model in their classrooms and are seeing measureable student progress.  I am excited to begin this with my students.  

My goal is to work with students individually and in small groups to move students closer to their grade level expectations in reading.

With the CAFE framework, I feel students will begin to enjoy reading and have successful reading experiences.  Students will choose books they are interested in, on their level and will apply the strategies taught in the following areas:  Comprehension. Accuracy, Fluency, and Expanding Vocabulary.  We will monitor progress through individual conferencing and adjust skills based on where students are in their reading journey.

I think reading will be challenging and fun and I believe students will be able to see themselves develop as readers this year!!
